Elma Mulder was born August 25, 1937 to Elmer and Sena (Van Donkelaar) Altena in Sioux Center, Iowa.  She grew up in Sioux Center and attended Sioux Center Community School.  She was united in marriage to John Mulder Jr. on July 26, 1961 at her parents’ home.  To this union 4 children were born.  They raised their family in Sioux Center.

In the past, Elma worked at Peter’s Store, Joe’s Lunch, House of Fashion, Van’s Poultry Farm, and Sioux Preme Egg Plant.  She was a lifelong member of the First Reformed Church.  She enjoyed baking, and everyone enjoyed her breads and sugar cookies.  In the summer you would find her sitting outside on her driveway, no matter how hot it was outside.  She will be remembered for always giving her honest opinion, being generous, strong, and having a special way of connecting with those around her.  She will be greatly missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Scott Mulder of Fayettville, AR, Robin (Keith) Stahl of Bruce, SD, and Kimberly Mulder of Sioux Center, IA; 4 grandchildren, Nichole and John Mulder of Fayettville, AR,  Hayley (fiancé, Chad Pearse) Stahl of Bruce, SD, and Madison Stahl of Bruce, SD; siblings, Eugene (Becky) Altena, Betty (Jim) Vos, Kenny (Linda) Altena, Melinda (Daryl) Vanden Brink, and Arvin (Paula) Altena, all of Sioux Center, IA; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Sena Altena; husband, John Mulder Jr.; and infant son Jeffery.

     Blessed Be Her Memory.
