Genevieve Gertrude Leusink

     Genevieve Gertrude Leusink, age 98, of Sioux Center, Iowa passed away Thursday, August 22, 2019, at Accura Healthcare of Spirit Lake, Iowa.

     A funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 31^st at First Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Roger Voskuil officiating.  

     Interment will follow the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.

     A visitation with family present will be held on Saturday, August 31^st from 9:30 AM until the hour of service at First Reformed Church in Sioux Center.

     The Leusink family prefer memorials be directed to the Lakes Regional Healthcare Hospice and/or First Reformed Church of Sioux Center.

     Genevieve G. Leusink was born January 23, 1921 in Sioux Center, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Rena (Wissink) Den Herder. She grew up in Sioux Center and attended country school.

     She was united in marriage to Gerrit John Leusink in 1950. They were blessed with eight children. Genevieve was a homemaker most of her life and also worked at Sioux Center Community Hospital. She also volunteered for many years at Hope Haven as a Foster Grandparent.

     She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center, active with the Naomi Circle Group. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, game playing and traveling.

     Genevieve’s husband, Gerrit died in 1974. She lived on the farm near Sioux Center until 1977, when she moved into town. She moved to Spirit Lake in 2011. In July of 2016 she entered Accura Healthcare in Spirit Lake.

     She is survived by six children, Helen (David) Dorenkamp of Milford, IA, Claire (Ruth) Leusink of Ripon, CA, Thelma (Dean) Madagan of Spirit Lake, IA, Arlin (Joyce) Leusink of Sioux Center, IA, Marvin (Laura) Leusink of Escalon, CA and Joyce (Kevin) Zubrod of Sutherland, IA; son-in-law, Ron Ouellet of Monte Sereno, CA; daughter-in-law, Cheri Leusink of Rock Valley, IA; 26 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; sister, Arlene Wynia of Luverne, MN; sister-in-law, Jeanette Leusink of Hull, IA; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Rena Den Herder; husband, Gerrit Leusink; daughter, Irene Ouellet; son, Dennis Leusink; two grandchildren, Jeff Ouellet and Dustin Dorenkamp; sister, Gertrude Leusink.
