Hal Riemersma age 70 of Sioux Center, IA died Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Sioux Center Health in Sioux Center, IA.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30AM on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at the Central Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Gary Maas officiating. Inurnment will follow the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.
The 10:30AM service will be live streamed on the church website at, www.centralreformed.org
A visitation will be held from 5:30-7:30PM on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.
The Riemersma family prefers memorials go to the June E. Nylen Cancer Center or Katlyns Fund.
Halvern Wayne Riemersma was born March 30, 1950 in Sibley, Iowa, the son of Wilbur and Theresa (Beimers) Riemersma. He lived in Ashton, IA through 8th grade. The family then moved to Sioux Center, where he graduated from Sioux Center High School and continued his education for one semester at Dordt College in Sioux Center. Hal began working at Ver Hoef Automotive, formerly Van Velzen Pontiac & Buick in Sioux Center. He worked a total of 51 years for General Motors.
He was united in marriage to Judy Lammers on June 4, 1994 at Silver Sioux Recreational Area in Cherokee, IA. Hobbies Hal enjoyed were camping, bowling, golfing and gardening. He was a Boy Scout of America Leader for 15 years and volunteered with the Iowa Missing & Exploited Children in Sioux City.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Riemersma of Sioux Center, IA; four children, Kristi (husband Joel) Johnson of Craig, IA, Jason Riemersma of Sioux Center, IA, Ralph Lammers of Sioux Center, IA and Dwaine (wife, Crystal) Lammers of Granville, IA; eight grandchildren, Taylor and Ross Johnson, Jenna (husband, Lance) Gushwa, Nick and Miranda Lammers, Isaia, Ian and Isabel Lammers; two brothers, Larry (wife, Ruth) Riemersma and Randy (wife, Nancy) Riemersma; a sister, Beth (husband, Gary) Maas; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Theresa Riemersma; a sister, Leola Van Ravenswaay; and brother-in-law, Arlen Van Ravenswaay.
