Helen will be remembered for excelling at word games, preparing delicious Sunday dinners, reading fiction, watching game shows and sports on TV, and never forgetting a birthday. Helen was a life-long member of Central Reformed Church. Loyd and Helen enjoyed doing many activities together including golfing, attending kids' and grandkids' events, playing cards, and having many fun times with a group of friends called "The Gang”.

Survivors are her son, Paul of Mount Vernon, TX; son, Brian Vermeer and his life partner Elizabeth Janis from Mechanicsburg, PA; and son-in-law, Arv Brenneman with his wife Shelly of Sioux Center, IA; her loving grandchildren: Pam Mock, Brittony Vermeer and Mike Foley, Josh and Amanda Brenneman, Stacey and Adam Bradshaw, Michael and Lori Vermeer, Afton Vermeer-Obazee and Derek Eguae-Obazee, Heather and Sam Lundgren, Trey Vermeer and Keaton Vermeer; her great-grandchildren: Zedekiah, Layla, and Judah Mock; Jane and Edie Foley, Bailey Brenneman, Jace and Jerzi Bradshaw, Ashlyn and Mason Vermeer, Zadie and Tayo Eguae-Obazee, and Everett and Clark Lundgren.
