Henrietta Darlene (Vande Kamp) Sneller was born on November 19, 1935, to Gerrit & Hattie Vande Kamp. She was raised as a farm girl, west of Sioux Center, Iowa. She graduated from Sioux Center High School, in 1953 and met the man of her dreams through a blind date and "lo and behold it was with Harold Sneller and the rest was history". The couple was wed on December 16th at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church. Harold and his bride, then moved to the family farm, where they resided until 2002. Henrietta joyfully took the role as homemaker, farmwife and mother to four children.
Henrietta was a woman with many hobbies and enjoyed life. She supported her children at the county fair where she also enjoyed volunteering her time. Harold & Henrietta served as RCYF youth sponsors for six years. She enjoyed growing in her faith through a ladies Bible study for many years. She also took great pride in the fact that she donated over 8 gallons of blood to the Siouxland Blood Bank.
The joy of supporting her children in all their accomplishments later carried over to attending many grandchildren's functions. In true grandmother fashion, Henrietta found her way into many hearts through her infamous baking and cooking. From the tasty gum drop cookies, fudge bars, scrumptious carrot cake and ever so popular potato salad. Time was never wasted when playing hours of cards, Chinese checkers and laughing made Henrietta's smile shine. Anyone who truly knew Henrietta, also knew that her love for sports was great! Especially that of the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Henrietta loved the outdoors and all the beauty it brought. She invested many hours growing tomatoes and beautiful flowers. The garden was Henrietta’s favorite place to spend time unless of course it was 95 and humid.
She was blessed with 4 children, 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren
