Henrietta Vander Broek age 86 of Sioux Center, Iowa died Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center, IA.
A memorial service will take place at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 13, 2021, at First Reformed Church in Orange City, IA with Reverend Mark Haverdink officiating. Burial will take place prior to the service at the Sherman Township Cemetery rural Maurice, IA.
Public visitation will be Friday, November 12th with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.
The Vander Broek Family prefers memorials be directed to Bibles For Missions Thrift Center in Orange City, IA.
Henrietta Vander Broek was born October 25, 1935, In Sioux Center, IA, the daughter of John R. and Harriet (Vermeer) Vander Schaaf. She grew up in Sioux Center and later graduated from Sioux Center High School.
On March 5, 1957, she was united in marriage to John F. Vander Broek at the Free Grace Reformed Church in Middleburg, Iowa.
Henrietta was a member of the Middleburg Reformed Church for a time, First Reformed Church in Sioux Center and most recently a member of the First Reformed Church in Orange City, IA. As a member she attended circle, Bible study and played piano for youth Sunday school.
Her hobbies and interests included, sewing, knitting, playing piano, organ and guitar.
Henrietta is survived by her four children: Mike (Denise) Vander Broek of Sioux Center, IA, Dan Vander Broek of Canton, SD, Dawn Scott of Valley, NE and Elaine Vander Broek of Orange City, IA; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; nine siblings, Herlon (Joan) Vander Schaaf of Sioux Center, IA, Milton (Joan) Vander Schaaf of Hardwick, MN, Sharon Vander Schaaf of Sanborn, IA, Audrey Van Grouw of Remsen, IA, Helen (Don) Statema of Newkirk, IA, Roger (Charlotte) Vander Schaaf of Woodstock, MN, June (Harold) Driessen of Hull, IA, Arlys Zomermaand of Sioux Center, IA and Delbert Vander Schaaf of Middleburg, IA; one sister-in-law, Marge Lubbers of Big Fork, MN; many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John “Bud” Vander Broek; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Jim (Betty) Vander Schaaf and Wayne Vander Schaaf; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Wilma (Gilbert) Schelling and Elda Vander Schaaf; two brothers-in-law, Ed Zomermaand and Ken Van Grouw; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don (Judy) Vander Broek; and brother-in-law, Roy Lubbers.
