     Joe Van Der Brink age 90 of Sioux Center, Iowa died Friday, January 1, 2021 at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center, IA.

     A funeral service will take place at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Netherlands Reformed Church in Sioux Center with Rev. H. Hofman officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.

     Public visitation will be Tuesday, January 5th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center and family will not be present. Social distancing guidelines will be followed.

     The Van Der Brink Family prefers memorials be directed to Netherlands Reformed Christian School.

     Joe Van Der Brink was born on October 22, 1930 rural Sioux County, IA, the son of Edward and Fredrieka (Schelling) Van Der Brink. He received his education through the 8th grade at various country schools in and around Sioux Center, IA. On December 30, 1952, Joe was united in marriage to Arlene Kamerman in Sioux Center, IA. To this union four children were born, Ron, Bev, Dave, and Jolene. The couple began their married life near Mc Nally, IA. In 1957 they moved to the Kamerman family farm south of Sioux Center where they began their dairy.

     In 1981 they moved to an acreage west of Sioux Center and their son Ron took over the dairy and farm operation. Joe continued to be active on the farm for many years. Arlene passed away in 2008 and a few years later he moved into town. In 2017 Joe entered Royale Meadows Care Center.    

Joe is survived by three children, Bev (Cornie) Blom of Corsica, SD, Dave (Sandy Medalen) Van Der Brink of Ireton, IA, and Jolene (Bob) Wobbema of Sioux Center, IA; daughter-in-law, Esther Van Der Brink of Sioux Center, IA; twenty-four grandchildren, fifty-three great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; brother, Richard (Greta) Van Der Brink of Luverne, MN; sister-in-law, Eldora Van Der Brink of Sioux Center, IA; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Arlene; son, Ron; granddaughter, Leah Mae Van Der Brink; great grandson, Marcus Blom; three brothers, Frank (Ann) Van Der Brink, Case (Alice) Van Der Brink, and William Van Der Brink; and two sisters, Hendrika (Rich) Van Hill, and Greta (Jim) Scholten.
