John W. Peuse

     John Peuse, age 69 of Sioux Center, IA died Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Sioux Center Health in Sioux Center.

     A Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2019 at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center, IA with Rev. John Lee officiating.  Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.

     Visitation with family present will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

     In lieu of flowers, family wish memorials to be directed to the Sioux Center Christian School or Sioux Center Health.

     John William Peuse was born Easter Sunday, April 9, 1950 to William and Hester (Cleveringa) Peuse in Orange City, Iowa. He grew up on farms near Newkirk and Middleburg, Iowa.  He attended and graduated from Sioux Center High School. 

     On June 8, 1972 John was united in marriage to Gloria Beltman at the Hospers Christian Reformed Church.  Together they lived in Sioux Center where they raised their family.  Gloria passed away after a battle with cancer on March 22, 2006.

     John was united in marriage to Helen De Weerd on May 15, 2010 at the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center.  They remained living in Sioux Center.

     John worked as a mechanic at Mouw Motor in Sioux Center before beginning a career as a mail carrier and clerk for the United States Postal Service.  He retired in 2013.  John was a member of the Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center.  He enjoyed hiking, biking, and travel.  He treasured time with family and will be remembered for his faith and commitment to them.  John was well known for his keen interest in learning the life journey of those around him.

     Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of nine years, Helen; daughter, Sheila (Stephan) Jennebach of Zumbrota, MN; son, Dr. Michael (Tricia) Peuse of Phoenix, AZ; three grandsons, Tanner Jennebach, Will and Brody Peuse; brother-in-laws, Klaas Van Beek of Sioux Center, IA and Kermit (Brenda) DeVries of Inwood, IA; sister-in-law, Mary (Joe) Bosma of Sioux Center, IA; brother-in-law Arlyn (Elaine) Beltman of Alton, IA; sisters-in-law, Doris Beltman of Orange City, IA and Karen Jeltema of Orange City, IA; step mother-in-law, Gladys Beltman of Sheldon, IA.

     He was preceded in death by his parents William and Hester; first wife, Gloria; sister, Gertrude Van Beek, parents-in-law, Jim and Joyce (Van Leeuwen) Beltman; brothers-in-law, Dennis Beltman and Greg Jeltema.
