John Van Den Brink

     John Van Den Brink, age 80 of Sioux Center, Iowa died Friday, November 22, 2019 at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center.

     Funeral services will be 10:30 Monday, November 25, 2019 at First Reformed Church in Sioux Center with Reverend Roger Voskuil, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery at Sioux Center.

     Visitation will be Sunday, November 24, 2019, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with family present at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

     John Elmer Van Den Brink was born December 14, 1938 to Steven and Jennie (Van Ravenswaay) Van Den Brink in Sioux Center, Iowa.  He was raised on farms in the Sioux Center area.  John attended Welcome #3 Country School through the 8^th grade. 

     On February 1, 1963 John was united in marriage to Henrietta Huyser at the First Reformed Church in Rock Valley, Iowa.  John and Henrietta raised their two children in Sioux Center.  John worked  at Sioux Center Community School, Sioux Prem Pack, and him and his wife’s business, Van Den Brink Laundry for 29 years.

     John attended First Reformed Church in Sioux Center.  He enjoyed camping, fishing, cards and board games.  He especially loved any time he spent with his family.

     Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Henrietta; daughter, Sharon (Blair) Klaahsen of Little Rock, IA; two grandchildren, Brittany (Jamie) Negus of Sheldon, IA, Brooke (John) Estep of Sioux Falls, SD; two great grandchildren, Jaxson and Bentlee Negus; and a sister Josephine Koedam of Rock Valley, IA.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Patrick Jay Van Den Brink; sisters, Gertrude Vanden Brink, Henrietta Vanden Brink; brothers, Steve (Tillie) Vanden Brink, Richard (Lavina) Vanden Brink; and brother in law Everett Koedam.
