Josephine Ann Dirksen, age 70 of Sioux Center, IA died unexpectedly on Monday, July 18, 2022 at her home in Sioux Center.
A memorial service will take place 10:30 AM, Monday, July 25, 2022 at Carmel Reformed Church. A prayer service will take place prior to the service at 9:15 AM at Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow the prayer service at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.
Visitation will take place Sunday, July 24th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM with family present at Memorial Funeral Home.

Josephine Ann Dirksen was born March 22, 1952, the daughter of Harm and Alice-Ann (De Jong) Hilvers in Modesto, California.
She was united in marriage to Arlyn Dirksen on May 2, 1980, in Modesto, California. She was a loving homemaker while her kids were school age. Some of her favorite positions in her career were as a secretary for the Ontario Christian High School, then the Zion United Reformed Church in Ripon, CA. Her and Arlyn moved to Sioux Center, Iowa on May 2, 2010, to be closer to her grandchildren. After relocating to Iowa, she worked at MJ’s and various sewing work for people around the area, and as a licensed insurance for Farm Bureau. Arlyn passed away on December 5, 2012. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, getting together with the coffee drinkers, and most importantly, spending time with her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Joisanne Dirksen of Sioux Center, IA, Arthur (Marianna) Dirksen of Goodwin, SD, Allison (Josh) Leusink of Hawarden, IA; 8 grandchildren, Arthur’s children: Mikayla, Samantha, Rebecca, and Alyssa; Allison’s children: Wyatt, Karlee, and Paul; mother, Alice Ann Hilvers, of Ripon, CA; siblings, Pam Sleeman of Ripon, CA, Nanci (John) Dragt of Lake Norden, SD, Harm Hilvers Jr. of Lake Norden, SD, Brenda (Arie) de Jong of Visalia, CA; and brother-in-law, Robert Verkaik of Golden Valley, AZ; sister-in-law Bev (Harv) Mouw of Fontana, CA, sister-in-law Shirley (Lowell) Vander Veen of McMinnville, OR; sister-in-law Nancy De Jong of Turlock, CA; brother-in-law Tom (Julie) of Watertown, SD; along with nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlyn; father, Harm; Father & Mother In law Arthur and Hermina Dirksen; granddaughter, Rachel Leusink; and sister, Betty Verkaik.
