Kathy Van Beek, age 59, of Sioux Center, Iowa died Saturday, December 23, 2023, at Sioux Center Health in Sioux Center.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, December 29, 2023, at Central Reformed Church of Sioux Center, Iowa with Rev. Roger Voskuil officiating. Interment will follow the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. The service will be livestreamed at https://www.centralreformed.org/livestream/
A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the Van Beek family prefers memorials to be directed to Sioux Center Hospice and Home Care: 1400 7th Avenue SE, Sioux Center, Iowa 51250.
Kathy Rachelle Van Beek was born on February 13, 1964, in Sioux Center, IA, the daughter of Bob and Jean (Kroon) Schouten. She grew up in Sioux Center and later graduated from Sioux Center High School in 1982.
On September 2, 1983, she was united in marriage to Vernon Rozeboom, and to this union three children Travis, Tasha, and Colten. They were later divorced. On November 24, 2019, Kathy married Rodney Van Beek.
While her kids were growing up, Kathy was a dedicated stay-at-home mom and took pride in caring for her children and then grandchildren. Kathy then found her true passion in life when she went back to school and became a Home Health and Hospice Certified Nurse Assistant, she was very dedicated to her job and it showed through the love her patients had for her.
Kathy was a member of Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center, IA. Her hobbies included riding a bike and motorcycle, traveling, reading, walking, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and granddogs.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Rodney Van Beek of Sioux Center, IA; three children, Travis (Amy) Rozeboom and their children, Zachery, Landon, Jaiden, and Easton all of Sioux Center, IA; Tasha (Joseph) Stewart, and their children, Taden and Jetson all of Jackson, NE; and Colten (Kellie) Rozeboom of Denver, CO; step-children, Ryan (Kendra) Van Beek, and their children, Nora and Quinn all of Sioux Center, IA; and Tyler (Brianna) Van Beek of Hull, IA; three siblings, Deb (Larry) Vander Weide of Sioux Center, IA, Sally (Dick) Koel of Sioux Center, IA, and Paul Schouten of Los Angeles, CA; sister-in-law, Sue Schouten of Alton, IA; grand dogs, Brutus, Milo, Titus, Knuckles, and Chuckles; nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Jean Schouten; stepdad, Elmer Hopper; brother, David Schouten; nephew, Ben Vander Weide; and father-in-law, Egbert Van Beek.
