Kenneth "Ken" Jay Bloemendaal

Ken Bloemendaal, age 67 of rural Middleburg, IA, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 31^st at the Middleburg Free Grace Reformed Church, with Pastor Mark J. Schwarz officiating.

Burial will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center, IA.

Visitation will be Friday, December 30^th with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center, IA.

Kenneth Jay Bloemendaal was born on January 18, 1955, in Doon, IA, the son of Eilert and Pearl (Maliepaard) Bloemendaal.  He grew up in the Sioux Center area and later graduated from Unity Christian School in Orange City, IA in 1973. 

On October 18, 1974, Ken was united in marriage to Donna Faber at the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City, IA.  The couple made their home in Sioux Center, IA and to this union three children were born, Jamie, Travis, and Alicia.

Ken worked at Coop Gas & Oil in the service department and drove propane truck for many years. He also drove truck for Roskam Trucking.  He was a member of the Middleburg Free Grace Reformed Church.  He enjoyed fishing and riding his motorcycle, as well as spending time with his grandkids. 

Ken is survived by his three children, Jamie (Jenn Klute) Bloemendaal of Ireton, IA, Travis Bloemendaal of Sioux Falls, SD, and Alicia (Steve) Lourens of Blair, NE; six grandchildren, Angela (Tim) Spaans, Miranda and Ethan Bloemendaal, Jorja McMahon, and Jackson and Maicy Lourens; three sisters, Irene (Henry) TerWee of Larchwood, IA, Harriet Van Beek of Sioux Center, IA, and Ruth (Pete) Vande Stroet of Rock Valley, IA; brother-in-law, Bob VerMulm; and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eilert and Pearl Bloemendaal; one sister, Joyce VerMulm; two brothers-in-law, Garret Van Veldhuizen and Cornie Van Beek.
