Kenneth De Vos

September 15, 1929 — February 19, 2022

      Kenneth De Vos, age 92 of Sioux Center, IA, died Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center, IA.

     A funeral service will be held at 10:30AM on Friday, February 25, 2022, at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center with Rev.      Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday.

The De Vos family prefer memorial be directed to Crown Pointe Estates in Sioux Center. 

Kenneth De Vos was born on September 15, 1929, to Ed and Mary (Juffer) De Vos in Sioux Center Iowa.  He attended Sioux Center public school and graduated Sioux Center High School in 1948.  While in high school he enjoyed playing basketball and baseball.  Sports continued to be something he enjoyed throughout his life.  He spent many years playing golf and talking about sports with his friends.   He also greatly enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Ken served his country in the US Army from 1948 – 1949 as a clerk with the Service Company of the 23rd Infantry Regiment.  He was transferred to the Enlisted Reserve Corp where he remained until August of 1951.  After his service he returned home to Sioux Center where he became a postal worker. 

Ken served as a postal worker for 40 years and retired in 1990.  Following his retirement from the postal service, he traveled many miles transporting cars for Mouw Motor Company.  It has been said that during these trips he made it to 42 different states. 

He was a lifelong member of Central Reformed Church of Sioux Center, Iowa.  He always had a smile and a funny story or joke to tell. He will be greatly missed by many.

Ken is survived by two nieces: Kay Port of Alton and Terese (Rick) Van Ravenswaay of Brookings, SD and a nephew, Kent (Evelyn) De Vos of Sioux Center as well as other family members.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents and a brother and sister-in-law, Irwin and Bernice De Vos.
