Larry started his career in sales with JESCO in Sioux Center.  He held many sales positions through the years with Altena Circle Steel, Tri-State Electric, Den Hoed Greenhouse, Sioux Automation, and Central Parts & Supply.  Larry also drove truck for George Kooi, Phil Hooyer and HLH Farms.  In 2009, Larry began farming his family’s land.  He thoroughly enjoyed carrying on this heritage that his family started.

On October 17, 1986, Larry married Kathi De Vos in Sioux Center.  To this union two sons were born, Brett and Trenton.  They made their home on an acreage near Perkins for 19 years and then near Sioux Center for 14 years.  Larry loved living in the country.  He always had horses and hunting dogs on his place.

Larry made friends everywhere he went and would do anything for them. He played baseball in high school and continued to play fast pitch and slow pitch softball for many years. He really enjoyed kids and loved to tease them. Sunday afternoon visits to the grandkids in Ireton were a favorite part of his week.  Larry loved tinkering in his shop. He was always working on his old muscle cars.  Larry loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing were his two favorite things.

Larry was a member of Bethel Church and later New Life Church of Sioux Center, Iowa.  Larry always said he felt closest to the Lord in the outdoors.
