Lester Schaap Livestream Lester Schaap, age 89, of Sioux Center, IA died Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Sioux Center Health. Funeral service will be livestreamed as well as placed on Mr. Schaap's web page for 90 days. A private family funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center with Pastors Bob Pollema and Dave Smit officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. Public visitation will be Monday, December 28th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home. Due to Covid-19 circumstances, family will not be present. Masks and social distancing will be followed. In lieu of flowers and gifts the family requests that memorials be directed to the Dordt Pro-Tech program. The family wishes to thank the Royale Meadows Care Center staff for being part of his family since the Covid pandemic began. Lester was born December 10, 1931 on the Chandler, MN family farm to John Jr. and Lyda (Lubben) Schaap. He was raised in the Chandler and Leota, MN area and attended the Leota Christian School. On November 29, 1960 he was united in marriage to Lorraine Hochbaum at the Leota Christian Reformed Church. Lester was a farmer in his young years and later worked for Dordt College on the Agriculture Stewardship farm. He also worked at Sioux Automation, Link Manufacturing and finally for Trans Ova Genetics of Sioux Center. He enjoyed a good cup of coffee and a day fishing. Lester is survived by his children, Ivan and Jude Schaap of Rock Valley, IA and Glenda and Walter Van Laren of Sioux Center, IA; along with his grandchildren Brandee Schaap, Shannon Schaap, Jade Schaap, Tyler Buckner, Alyson and Chad Van Ravenswaay, Kyle Van Laren, Eric and Jessica Van Laren and Blake Van Laren; great-grandchildren, Kipton and Boyd Moret; brother, Lloyd and Luella Schaap of Sioux Falls, SD; sister-in-law, Karen Schaap of Hudsonville, MI; nieces, nephews and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Loraine; stillborn son, Quentin Lee; brother, Marion Schaap; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Wilma Schaap and Arnold and Mavis Schaap; brother, Wesley Schaap.
