Lorna Moss, age 69, of Sioux Center, Iowa passed away suddenly on Friday, September 3, 2021, from injuries sustained in a road bicycling accident.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Sunday, September 12th, at the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center. Burial will follow the service at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center. To view the service please follow this link: Lorna Moss Service
Visitation will be Saturday, September 11th with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center.

Lorna Rae Moss was born on July 3, 1952, in Sioux Center, IA, the daughter of Ed and Becky (Williamstyn) Schaap. She grew up in Sioux Center and later graduated from Sioux Center High School in 1970. Following her graduation, she attended Westmar College in Le Mars, IA, where she received a bachelor’s degree in physical education along with a teaching certification.
On August 17, 1974, she was united in marriage to David Moss in Sioux Center. After their marriage, the couple moved to Geelong, Australia and lived there for seventeen years. While living in Australia, she taught school at Bell Park High School for a time then Geelong Christian School. Lorna was also a member of the Presbyterian Reformed Church and played on the Denims netball, Wanderers field hockey, and Geelong volleyball teams.
Lorna and Dave returned to Sioux Center in 1991. She started working at the Sioux Center Pool and later the All Seasons Center, where she taught water aerobics and thousands of kids swimming lessons along with many other aquatic activities. They are members of First Reformed Church, and she was involved with the Awana Program. Lorna served as a board member of the Seahawks swim team and a member of the AEA (Aquatic Exercise Association).
Lorna loved to compete in triathlons. Her favorite pastime was to ride her bike and swim. She had a sweet spot for cats and rescued many with involvement from Pup Haven. The pride and joy of her life was spending time with her kids, and especially her grandkids.
Lorna is survived by her husband of forty-seven years, Dave Moss of Sioux Center, IA; three children, Adrienne (Trevor) Wickenheiser of Fargo, ND, Daniel Moss (significant other, Hannah Ling) of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, and Miranda (Tyler) Dillinger of Boothbay, ME; two grandchildren, Adelaide and Mcalister Wickenheiser; one sister, Elsie (Don) Nibbelink of Lansdale, PA; nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by parents, Ed and Becky Schaap; brother, Norm Schaap and sister, Shirley Van Wyk.
