Lyle L Van Roekel

Lyle Van Roekel, age 78 of Sioux Center, Iowa died Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Crown Pointe Care Center in Sioux Center.

A funeral service will take place at 10:00AM Monday, February 3, 2025 at Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center, with Reverend Jesse Henkle, officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Lyle L. Van Roekel was born June 15, 1946, to Gerrit and Johannah (Brantsen) Van Roekel in Sioux Center, Iowa. He grew up on a farm near Sioux Center and graduated from Sioux Center High School. After graduating from high school, Lyle joined the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. Lyle enjoyed his time in the Army and was very proud of his service to his country. 

Upon returning to Sioux Center, he married Diane Huisman on February 16, 1968, at Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center. He and Diane were married for 56 years and also spent all of those years together perfecting photos at Bodnar Studio. Both he and Diane spent most of their time at the studio and took great pride in their work. Outside of work, Lyle enjoyed golfing (although not being great at it), hunting, skiing, and, most importantly, spending time with his sons. He attended every sporting event and frequently took his kids and their friends hunting, boating, skiing, or whatever the activity was that day. Later in life, he devoted most of his time being with his grandchildren. Lyle was a member of the Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center.

He is survived by his sons, Chad and Kathleen Van Roekel of Harrisburg, MO, and Mark and Rebecca Van Roekel of Dardenne Prairie, MO, along with his six grandchildren: Michael, Preston, Aiden, Elin, Carter, and Hudson.
