Marcella Kroese, 84, of Sioux Center, Iowa, died Thursday, September 23, 2021, at the Friendly Horizons Care Center in Sioux Center.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 27, 2021, at 10:30AM at the Faith Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Bob Pollema and Rev. Cliff Hoekstra officiating. Interment will follow the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.
Visitation with the family present will be held on Sunday, September 26, 2021, from 2-4PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.
The Kroese family prefer memorials be directed to the Faith Christian Reformed Church Kitchen Fund and Sioux Center Hospice.
Marcella Kroese was born May 23, 1937, to John and Martha (Van Leeuwen) Baker in Doon, Iowa. She grew up near Hospers, Iowa and graduated from Hospers High School. After high school she attended Sioux City Beauty College and graduated in 1958.
On December 27, 1955, Marce was joined in marriage to Stanley Dale Kroese at the Hospers Christian Reformed Church in Hospers. Marce and Stan moved to Hospers where she operated a beauty salon for 11 years. In 1967, Stan started Kroese Accounting Firm in Sioux Center. The couple moved to Sioux Center in 1972.
Over the years, Marce and Stan have attended Christian Reformed Churches in Sioux City, Hospers and Sioux Center where she has been a charter member of Faith Christian Reformed Church. Marce served as a leader for Calvinettes in Sioux City, Hospers and Sioux Center. She was also the past president of the Siouxland Missionary Union and Sioux Center Women’s Club. Besides working as a beautician for many years, Marce also worked for Stan in his accounting firm and as a realtor.
Marce enjoyed an active life, she enjoyed golfing (even recording a 194-yard hole-in-one), fishing, playing cards and games with family and friends, and was an excellent cook. She made beautiful handiwork, especially baby blankets and afghans for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marce and Stan summered in Park Rapids, Minnesota and Okoboji and wintered in Mesa, Arizona for many years. She was an avid sports fan that enjoyed Dordt University, the Minnesota Twins and Vikings games. She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s activities. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Stanley Kroese of Sioux Center; three children and their families: Randy and Roxie (Wieberdink) Kroese and their children and grandchildren: Heather and Jeff Mackey (Spencer & Taylor), Nikki and Curtis Strong (Livia); Rob and Pam (Buyert) Kroese and their children and grandchildren: Jason and Jamie Kroese (Harrison & Haven), Sarah and Mark Rowenhorst (Levi & Luke), Ryan and Kelly Kroese (Walter); Renae and Jaris Visscher and their children and grandchildren: Patrick and Kaitlyn Visscher (Cade & Jace), Paxton and Jon Holwerda (Brixten & Scotlyn), Paige and Jacob Vander Wilt. Marce is also survived by a sister, Viny Van Roekel, two sisters-in-law, Joyce Baker and Joleen (Stan) Hulst.
Marce was preceded in death by her Parents; sister, Josephine (Ivo) Kinney; two brothers: Peter Donald (Joann) Baker, Harold Baker and brother-in-law, Allen Van Roekel.
