Maria Victorina Romero Nava

August 26, 1946 — July 20, 2020

Maria Romero, age 73, of Sioux Center, IA died Monday, July 20, 2020 at Mercy One in Sioux City, IA.

     A Mass of Christian burial be we held at 10:30AM on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rock Valley, Iowa with Father Douglas Klein officiating. Public graveside service will follow the service in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Rock Valley at 11:30AM.

    Maria Victorina Romero Nava was born August 26, 1946 to Epifanio Romero and Delfina Nava in Monte Escobedo Zac., Mexico.  She lived on the family farm until the family moved to Colotlán, Jalisco when she was seventeen.   In 1977, she moved to California and in 1999, she moved to Sioux Center, Iowa where she worked at Supreme Egg until she retired.

     Maria was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church of Sioux Center.   In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, gardening flowers and spending time with her family.  Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were very special to her.

     She is survived by her significant other, Manuel     Bernal; five children: Jose Gutierrez, Griselda Gutierrez, Roberto Gutierrez, Oscar Gutierrez and Jose Madird; 16 grandchildren: Anthony Gutierrez, Alexis Garcia,    Crystal Napple, Louis Napple, Abby Vega, Johnny Gutierrez, Cesar Chavez, Sophia Gutierrez, Dominic Gutierrez, Isabella Gutierrez, Adrianna Gutierrez,    Henry Gutierrez, Bella Gutierrez, Nicolas Gutierrez, Jose Gutierrez and Marcos Gutierrez; 12 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by four brothers: Ignacio Romero, Jose Romero, Conrado Romero and Jaime Romero and one sister, Alejandrina Romero.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Delfina Nava and Epifanio Romero; a son, Juan Manuel Gutierrez; brother, Moises Romero and a sister, Rosa Romero.

Maria Victorina Romero Nava nació el 26 de agosto de 1946 de Epifanio Romero y Delfina Nava en Monte Escobedo Zac., México. Ella vivía en la granja familiar hasta que la familia se mudó a Colotlán, Jalisco, cuando tenía diecisiete años. En 1977, se mudó a California y en 1999, se mudó a Sioux Center, Iowa, donde trabajó en Supreme Egg hasta que se jubiló.

  María era miembro de la Iglesia Católica Cristo Rey del Sioux Center. En su tiempo libre, disfrutaba cocinar, cultivar flores en el jardín y pasar tiempo con su familia. Sus nietos y bisnietos fueron muy especiales para ella.

También le sobreviven cuatro hermanos: Ignacio Romero, José Romero, Conrado Romero y Jaime Romero y una hermana, Alejandrina Romero.

Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, Delfina Nava y Epifanio Romero; su hijo, Juan Manuel Gutiérrez; hermano, Moisés Romero y una hermana, Rosa Romero.
