Marian Kroon, age 81 of Sioux Center, IA died Sunday, December 13, 2020 at the Sioux Center Health in Sioux Center, IA.
A Prayer service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 18, 2020 at the New Life Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Interment following at the Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM at New Life Reformed Church with Reverend Dan Kruse officiating. Memorial Service will be livestreamed and viewable at: https://nlrchurch.org/watch-online
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2020 from 5PM-7PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. The family will not be present.
Memorials may be directed to Hope Haven of Rock Valley.
Due to current concerns with Covid and Governors mandate, social distancing and mask protocol will be observed.
Marian Kathryn Kroon was born March 23, 1939 to John and Jesse (Kooima) Meendering in Rock Valley, Iowa. She graduated from Boyden High School in 1957.
Marian was joined in marriage to Henry L. Kroon, September 2, 1960 and the family made their home in Sioux Center. The couple had three children and served as foster parents for four additional children.
Marian worked for 37 years as a nurse’s aide for Sioux Center Health. She was a charter member of New Life Reformed Church of Sioux Center where she enjoyed Bible studies and the Morning Glory Circle.
In her free time, Marian enjoyed gardening in her flowerbeds and attending craft fairs with her niece. She played cards once a week with friends and loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Henry Kroon of Sioux Center, Iowa; her children: Karlowe (Jean) of Virginia and their children: Jeremy (Jessica) Kroon of South Dakota (Lydia, Lucas and Lawson), Matthew and Jennifer Kroon of Virginia (Elijah and Mackenzie); daughter, Lisa L. Kroon of Iowa; daughter, Karen (Scott) Rens of Sioux Center, Iowa and their children: Emily (Kyle) of Nebraska, Alexander Rens and Samuel Rens both of Iowa. She is also survived by sisters: Gert De Groot of Iowa, Jo Mulder of Minnesota, Alberta Hall of California, Ruth (Ralph) Hollander of Arizona; in-laws: Veryl (Barb) Kroon of Florida, Lyle Kroon of South Dakota, Phyllis (Dave) VanderWel of Iowa as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents; her parents-in-law, sisters, Fanny (Louis) Deboer, Janice Meendering, Jeannetta Meendering; brother, Jake (Jan) Meendering; brothers-in-law, Thomas De Groot, Robert Hall, Fred Mulder, Arvin Kroon and sister-in-law, Kathy Kroon.
