Mary Gail Bomgaars was born July 18, 1958, the daughter of Wilbur and Tena (Dykstra) Huisman in Sioux Center, Iowa. She graduated from Sioux Center High School in 1976.
On July 22, 1978, Mary was united in marriage to Norman Bomgaars at Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center. Together they made their home in Sioux Center and to this union, one son, Drew was born.
Mary was a member of the Central Reformed Church. She worked at Van Zee Commodities for 34 years. In her earlier years, she enjoyed bowling on a league at her parents’ Holiday Lanes bowling alley. She also enjoyed golfing, flowers and plants, and watching the birds at her birdfeeders. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was known as greatest Aunt Mary and always kept her nieces’ and nephews’ lives interesting and fun. She loved her family immensely.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Drew Jacob Bomgaars; grandchildren, Ryker Jacob, Aubrey Rose, and Zoey Renee; siblings, Bob (Ann) Huisman of Corona, CA, Jeanie Huisman (Kenny Vos) of Sioux Center, IA, Debbie (Mike) Melvin of Westminster, CO, Carol (Phil) Traczyk of Albuquerque, NM; sister-in-law, Pat Huisman; brother-in-law, Lyle Van Roekel; many nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Tena Huisman; husband Norman in 1994; brothers, Veryl Huisman, David “Wink” Huisman, and Jerry Huisman; and sister, Diane Van Roekel.
