Michael Francis Floen, age 80, died peacefully on June 22, 2023 at Crown Pointe Care Center, after a recent illness. After graduating from Warren (IL) High School, Mike began his working life by enlisting in the Army and working on Honest John Missiles in Germany. In 1966, upon his discharge from the Army, he married Anita Leibert on February 4, 1966. Both Mike and Anita settled on careers managing hog confinement facilities. Over the years, they worked and lived in Illinois, Nebraska, and Colorado, finally settling in Iowa, and retiring in Sioux Center. When Mike wasn’t working, he and Anita enjoyed dirt track racing and travel. Mike was happiest when he was on the road to somewhere. During his life, he owned a few collector cars and liked taking them to car shows and driving to the places he wanted to see. He was also very artistic and enjoyed drawing and creating interesting things on his computer. When he wasn’t drawing, he was looking at and learning about faraway places. We will miss him.
Mike is survived by his wife, Anita, of 58 years; his three children, Tim (Allison) Floen of Maurice, IA; Lonny (Michele) Floen of Chillicothe, IA, and Angie (Mike) Rodenburgh of Sioux Center, IA; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Hollie Floen of Freeport, Illinois and Cheryl (Floen) Heldt of Lanark, Illinois.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Erma Floen of Warren, Illinois.
