Niclas Edward Wolterstorff

August 14, 1935 — November 7, 2020

     Niclas Wolterstorff, age 85, of Sioux Center, IA passed into glory on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at his home in Sioux Center, IA.

     A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Faith Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center, IA with Rev. Bob Pollema, Rev. Dave Smit and Dr. Rev. Cliff Hoekstra officiating. Private family burial will take place prior to the service at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.

     A public visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, November 13th at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. Family will not be present.

     Social distancing and masks will be required for all visitation and memorial service gatherings.

In lieu of flowers family wish memorials which will be directed to Hope Haven and Justice For All.

     Nic was united in marriage to Clara Mae Meyer on November 4, 1955 at the Christian Reformed Church in Bunde, MN. Together they in lived Raymond, MN (employed at Farm Market in Wilmar, MN), Clara City, MN (employed at the Clara City Implement) and Renville, MN (employed at K & M Manufacturing). After retirement, Nic and Clara moved their home to Sioux Center, IA.

     Nic was a past member of the Raymond CRC, Clara City CRC, Emden CRC in Renville, MN, and most recently, Faith CRC in Sioux Center, IA. During these years Nic served as Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Group Leader, Small Group Bible Study Leader, and always sang in the church choir. He also served as President of CMCS School Board and Area Manager of CRWRC (now World Renew). Nic enjoyed hiking, biking, camping and woodworking, and was an accomplished handyman. He sang with the Emden Gospel Quartet for 35 years. Nic, along with Clara, were volunteers with Roving Volunteers in Christ’s Service (RVIC’s) and with Justice For All (JFA), in Rock Valley, IA.

     Nic is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Clara Mae Wolterstorff of Sioux Center, IA; four children, Roslyn (Corky) De Boer of Orland Park, IL, Kevin (Bonnie) Wolterstorff of Sioux Center, IA, Jane Wolterstorff of Grand Rapids, MI and Cheryl Steggerda of Rochester, MN; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters and two brothers: Rena (Alvin) Dykstra, William (Dolores) Wolterstorff, Grace (Herm) Van Beek, Marvin (Phyllis) Wolterstorff, Martha (Bruce) Leonard and Mary (Delbert) Hoogers; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

     Nic was preceded in death by his parent’s, John and Margaret Wolterstorff; infant grandsons, Bret Jordan De Boer and Nathan Mark Wolterstorff; and brother-in-law, Delbert Hoogers.
