Patricia Pollema age 80, of Sioux Center, Iowa died, Monday, November 8, 2021, at Sioux Center Health.
Prayer service will be 9:30 a.m., Thursday, November 11th at United Reformed Church in Sioux Center and leave for Hope Cemetery for the committal service.
The memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 11th at United Reformed Church in Sioux Center, with Rev. Jon Bushnell officiating.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 10th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at United Reformed Church in Sioux Center.
The family of Patricia Pollema prefers memorials be designated to: Dordt University.
Patricia Elenore VerSteeg was born on September 9, 1941, to Bert and Cornelia (Schrier) VerSteeg in Hancock, Minnesota. She was raised on the family farm. After high school she attended Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa.
Patricia was joined in marriage to Robert Lee Pollema Sr., on December 29, 1964, at the Hancock Christian Reformed Church. The couple moved to Hull, Iowa where she worked at the Hull Christian Grade School. She later worked for the Hull Index Reporter newspaper and Dordt University.
Over the years, she was a member of the Hull First Christian Reformed Church, Faith Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center and the Sioux Center United Reformed Church. She enjoyed singing in the church choir.
In her retirement years, Patricia volunteered with Justice For All. She also volunteered at Kinsey Elementary as a classroom “grandma” where she would read with students. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, reading, camping and traveling.
She is survived by her two sons: Bob and Mary Beth Pollema of Sioux Center and Brent and Karmen Pollema of Holland, MI; five grandchildren: Noah, Micah, Anneka, Isaac and Lydia Pollema.
She was preceded by her parents, Bert and Cornelius Ver Steeg; her husband, Robert Pollema Sr and a sister, JoAnn Van Eps.
