Priscilla Broek

      Priscilla Mae (De Groot) Broek, 98, of Sioux Center, Iowa went home to be with the Lord on June 26, 2022, at Sioux Center Health in Sioux Center, Iowa.

     Family visitation will be held from 5-7PM on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center, Iowa.

    The funeral service will be held at 10:30AM on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Bethel Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Duane Tinklenberg officiating.  Interment will follow the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.

     Priscilla, daughter of William and Grace De Groot, was born on July 30, 1923.  Priscilla grew up in Middleburg, Iowa and attended country school through 8^th grade.  Following school, she worked in her parent’s grocery store in Middleburg. Priscilla married Barney Broek on October 16, 1946, at the Middleburg CRC.  They moved to a farm north of Sioux Center across from the Wayside Chapel.  Priscilla lovingly cared for the chapel for many years.  Later in life they moved to Sioux Center. 

     Priscilla was a faithful member of the Bethel CRC in Sioux Center where she led bible studies, played organ and was very involved in Calvinettes (Gems) for many years.  Priscilla loved to tat, knit, and crochet and enjoyed teaching these crafts to others.  She also gave piano lessons to many students.  She loved taking care of her grandchildren and babysitting for others.  One of her favorite memories was going on picnics with Barney.  Priscilla spent the last years of life at Crowne Pointe nursing home where she was the Scrabble queen.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and was truly content in life.  She wanted to make 100 years old but was ready to meet her Lord when He called her home.

     Priscilla is survived by her four sons, Bob (Shari) Broek of Phoenix, AZ, Glen (Diane) Broek of Sioux Center, IA, Duane (Dawn) Broek of Watertown, SD, and Brian (Deb) Broek of Big Stone City, SD; grandchildren Michael (Sheena), Matthew (Bernadette), Justin (Asa), Lindsey, Jordan, Landon (Caitlin) and Taylor Broek and seven great-grandchildren; sisters Harriet Kroese and Audrey (Mike) Fedders and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Delbert and Ann Broek.

     She is preceded in death by her husband Barney, sister Anna De Weerd, brothers-in-law: Dick De Weerd, Art Hulstein and Gerald Kroese and many other relatives.
