Bob Bielema, 80 of Sioux Center died Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Sioux Center Health in Sioux Center.
A family service will be held at a later date in Illinois.
Robert “Bob” Bielema was born on November 19, 1944, in Clinton, Iowa to Clarence and Alice Bielema. He grew up in Fulton, Illinois and graduated from Fulton Community High School. He went on to study English and Education and graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He taught English in Grant, MI and Bellflower, California.
After teaching, Bob worked as a Christian book salesman for Zondervan Publishing in the Southern region of the United States. He also served as a camp councilor with troubled youth in Florida. While in Florida, he also worked as a chef at a Jewish resort near the Everglades.
He later moved to Denver, Colorado and managed a Winchell’s Donut Shop. In his later years, he moved to Sioux Center, Iowa and worked at Diamond Vogel Paints in Orange City.
In his free time, Bob enjoyed traveling and hiking. Exercise and fitness were important to him and he would also research studies related to health. He was an avid reader and liked to keep up on current events by reading the paper and the news on television. Bob liked watching sports and always kept a close eye on investment strategies.
Bob felt that church attendance was important to developing his faith and he became a member of Covenant CRC in Sioux Center.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law: Lee & Len Rhoda of Sioux Center and his nieces, nephews and their families.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
