Robert Gradert, 84, of Sioux Center, Iowa died, Monday May 30, 2022.

   A funeral service will be held at 10:30AM, Friday, June 3, 2022, at the Peace Lutheran Church of Rural Sioux Center, Iowa with Rev. William Leofke, officiating.  Interment will follow the service in Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery.

     Visitation will be from 5-7PM, Thursday, June 2, 2022, at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.  There will be a prayer service held at 6:30PM.

The Gradert family ask that donations be made to the charity of your choice.

     Robert Gradert was born May 25, 1938, to Herman and Lillian (Heuer) Gradert in Sioux Center, Iowa.  He attended country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Sioux Center High School in 1956.  As a young man he learned how to farm at his father’s and brother’s side.  His passion for farming continued throughout his life and was able to pass his passion on to his children and grandchildren. 

     On February 1, 1964, Robert married Caroline “Susie” Hasenbank in Akron, Iowa.  He was a lifelong member of the Peace Lutheran Church of rural Sioux Center and enjoyed his church family.  He served on the church council and was a member of the Men in Mission. 

Robert treasured time spent together as a family.  He especially enjoyed camping, fishing and tractor rides.  He had many great conversations with the men at the coffee shop.  Robert and Susie always enjoyed time spent with their winter Texas friends.

     Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Caroline; sons: Myron (Nancy) Gradert of Sioux Center, Russell (Lori) Gradert of Hawarden, IA; daughter, Carmen (William) Mickelson of Montevideo, MN; seven grandsons: Daniel (Miranda) Gradert, Joshua (Leah) Gradert, Cody (Katelyn) Gradert, Travis Gradert and friend Amber Cauchi, Ryan (Jenna) Gradert, Joey Mickelson and fiancée  Morgan Curtiss, Dylan Mickelson; seven great grandchildren: Emma, Millie, Hope, Jameson, Walker, Henry, Charlotte; two brothers: Herman (Marge) Gradert and Wilbur (Sandy) Gradert of Hawarden as well other family members.

     Robert is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty (Charles) Wagner; two brothers, Kenneth (Marilyn) Gradert and Richard (Carolyn) Gradert.
