William “Bill” Moore was born January 11,1939 the son of Cornelius and Ella (Johnson) Moore in Callahan, Florida. Bill was the youngest of eleven children. He graduated from Stanton High School and went on to trade school for mechanics.  Bill spent a short time in the US Army.  In 1959, Bill moved to New York and began working as a meter reader for Con Edison.  He later became an officer for the New York City Police Department where he served for 20 years.  He met his wife Marilyn Addink at the Manhattan Christian Reformed Church, and they were married on December 31, 1969.

Bill and Marilyn lived in White Plains, NY for nearly 40 years.  Upon retiring from the police force, Bill spent his time managing and maintaining their rental properties in New York City and Sioux Center.  In 2008, Bill and Marilyn moved to Bradenton, Florida for their retirement years.  Together, Bill and Marilyn enjoyed opening their home to visitors in New York and Florida, and were a blessing to many family members and friends, who visited.  Bill enjoyed fishing, playing cards, traveling, spending time with family, and helping those in need.  Bill was known for his generosity and his big heart.

Bill or uncle “Billy”, as he was so lovingly called, was a dearly loved uncle by his nieces and nephews.  He had an especially close relationship with his nephew Darnell Sheffield, who worked with him for several years. Marilyn and Billy had no children of their own but gave much of themselves to their many nieces and nephews, and to anyone else that they felt called to help out.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Ella Moore; loving wife, Marilyn Moore; parents-in-law, Dick and Hilda Addink; five brothers: Harold, Clinton, Bernard, Vernon and Cornelius Moore; five sisters: Bessie Hayes, Mary Moore, Elizabeth Colson, Thelma Moore and Georgia Sheffield; one sister-in-law and four brothers-in-law.
