Kirk D. Schuiteman was born June 6, 1958 in Sioux Center, IA to Arthur and Frances (DeZeeuw) Schuiteman. He was raised in Sioux Center and graduated from Sioux Center High School. He continued his education at Iowa State’s College of Veterinary Medicine to later become a Veterinarian in the Sioux County area. He loved his work as a Vet and it showed, as was voted “Best Vet” by the Northwest Iowa Review. He was a very intelligent but humble man. An avid reader, Kirk enjoyed learning and sharing his knowledge. He was always willing to help anyone, anywhere, anytime.

He was always full of life and loved every minute with his family and friends. He was a big hearted and generous man who was always there to lend a helping hand. His family and community alike, were very important to Kirk. Mischievous and playful are two words often used to describe Kirk, as he was quite the prankster throughout his life. Not only did his parents, siblings and other family members know of his shenanigans, many townsfolk experienced one or more of his pranks. He especially enjoyed teasing his nieces and nephews; they will forever hold Uncle Kirk in a special place in their hearts, along with many fun memories. He loved them very much.   He also enjoyed being a part of the athletic scene in Sioux County. He and his son Aaron frequently attended local sporting events together to show their support and record video. Kirk could often be found down on the court taking pictures. With or without a press pass they were always part of the action.

On October 8, 2011 Kirk married Helen Moffett-Dike in Alton, IA. The couple made their home in Orange City where they were active in the community and especially enjoyed dining at the local restaurants. They had many things in common and greatly enjoyed each other’s company; they were a perfect match. Their marriage meant that Kirk welcomed four ladies into his life, Helen and her three daughters. He loved them as his own. They along with Aaron will miss him deeply.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; son, Aaron of Orange City; step-daughters, Christina (Charles) Aro of Michigan, Renate Dike of Michigan and Monika Dike of Orange City; brothers Jan (Bev) Schuiteman of Orange City, Leon (Karen) Schuiteman of Sioux Center, Mark (Claryce) Schuiteman of Sioux Center; sisters, Kim (Ken) Smit of Sioux Center, Kay (David) Faber of Sioux Center; brother, Kyle (Brenda) Schuiteman; and sister, Shonna (Brad) Borchers of Sioux Center; many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Kirk was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Frances Schuiteman.
