He later enlisted in the U.S. Army and received his GED during that time. The couple moved to Chicago, IL, while Marvin was stationed there. They moved to the family farm outside of Hull in 1955, where they raised their three kids, Marlin, Bernie and LeAnn. Marvin farmed for 46 years retiring in 1992. He then went to work for DK Plastics. After 65 years of marriage his wife Arta passed away on January 26, 2020. Marvin was a member of the Carmel Reformed Church. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and some close friends of theirs. They took a bus trip out east, went on a cruise and traveled to Hawaii and Florida. The most important trip he ever took though, was his “Honor Flight” trip on September 25, 2019. He also loved going to his grandchildren’s activities.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Marlin (Dawn) Schoep of Cape Coral, FL, Bernie Schoep of Sioux Center, IA, and LeAnn Renner of Sibley, IA; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and other extended family.
