Raymond Frye age 37 of Orange City, Iowa died Thursday, April 13, 2023, due to a car accident in Plymouth County, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the Christ Community Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Randy Widbin and Rev. Mark Johnson officiating. A visitation with the family present will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, April 21, 2023, at the Christ Community Church. In Lieu of flowers memorials are preferred. Raymond James Lee Frye was born May 25, 1985, at Sioux City, IA, the son of Jerry and Theresa (Harkness) Frye. He grew up in the Siouxland area and graduated from West Sioux High School in Hawarden, IA in 2003. He continued his education for the next several years, earning degrees in computer science and a bachelor’s in theology and history from Northwestern College. During his path of education, he also served his country in the 185th Iowa Air National Guard, the 177th New Jersey Air National Guard and the US Army where he served a tour in Iraq. Raymond was united in marriage to Jayme Hess on October 5, 2013, at Sioux Center Christ Community Church. They made their home in Orange City where they started a family. They were blessed with two children, Rebekah and James. He passionately pursued education and learning throughout his life, enjoying books of all sorts. He was a dedicated Vikings fan to the end and loved gaming online and in person. Above all else, he was a loving father, husband, son and brother to all. He was survived by his wife, Jayme of Orange City; their children, Rebekah and James of Orange City; his parents, Jerry (Pam) Frye of Akron, IA and Theresa (Roger) Salazar of El Paso, TX; his siblings, Brody Frye of Sioux City, IA; Joshua (Sadie) Frye of Vermillion, SD; Samuel Frye of Akron, IA; Daniel Salazar of West Deptford, NJ; Christian Salazar of Milford, CT; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Scott of North Carolina, sister-in-law, Sara Hess of Iowa City, IA and brother-in-law, Jason Hess of Iowa City, IA; paternal grandmothers, Charlene Barrett and Patty Cozad; maternal grandmothers, Paulene Laubsch and Amelia Fletes; and grandmother-in-law, Patricia Weber Greg along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. Raymond was preceded in death by his paternal grandfathers, MC “Bud” Barrett, Jesse Cozad, Jr. and maternal grandfather, Terry Harkness and father-in-law, Kevin Hess as well as two uncles; John Harkness and James Harkness and one aunt, Julie Waterman.
