Ruth Darlene Boone

    Ruth Boone, 87 of Sioux Center, Iowa died May 26, 2022, at Crown Point Care Center in Sioux Center.

     Funeral services will be 10:30AM, Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at the Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center with Rev. Wayne Sneller officiating.  Burial will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery at Sioux Center.

     Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to the service on Wednesday morning.

     Ruth Boone was called to her heavenly home on May 26, 2022, at the age of eighty-seven.  She was born February 24, 1935, in Orange City to Rena and Andrew Huisman.  She attended country school, graduated from Orange City High School, attended Northwestern Jr. College, and taught elementary school for one year in Michigan.  She then met the love of her life, Vernon Boone. They were married and resided in Sioux Center.  Ruth was a loving housewife and mother to three children.

Vern and Ruth enjoyed traveling and camping and made many lifelong friends at Cutty's at Lake Okoboji. Her hobbies and interests included reading, sewing, crocheting afghans and hangers, and attending grandchildren's activities.  Ruth enjoyed crossword puzzles, sudoku, playing scrabble, and having coffee with her dear friends.  She also volunteered at Kinsey Elementary school as a classroom "grandma" where she would read with students.  Ruth worked part time at various jobs including Ben Franklin and finally 29 years at Walmart.  She was a faithful member at Central Reformed Church, participating in several mission trips and other activities.  She had a deep and abiding faith and prayer was an important part of her daily life.

     Survivors include her three children: Kim (Dave) Anderson of Storm Lake, Gregg (Shari) Boone of Sioux Center, and Eric (Nancy) Boone of Tyler, Texas; nine grandchildren: Andrea Anderson, Jessica (Thad) Clabaugh and their three children, Olivia, Easton, and Hayes; Kirsten Anderson, Tyler (Alisa) Boone and their two children Rylan and Haden, Haley Boone, Kiley (Xavier Quintana) Boone, Myles (Sara Murphy) Boone, Aaron Boone, and Jacob Boone; two sisters: Esther DeHaan and Eleanor Van Grouw, and one brother, Alan Huisman.

 In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter-in-law, Abby Boone; her brother, Verne Huisman (Faye); her sister, Helena Brandt (Almon); and two brothers-in-law Rodney DeHaan and Eugene Van Grouw.
